About Us
Comal County Unitarian Universalist Society was founded in
1995 by a small group of dedicated people who met in their homes.
We then met in rented spaces for many years but are now in our just
completed church and have grown to seventy two members. We became
affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association in 1999. We
are a pre-pastoral, lay-led congregation. We meet on Wednesday
evenings for an adult forum consisting of interesting programs
and discussion presented by members, friends or outside presenters.
We meet on Sunday mornings for a sharing
service based on sermons from many sources and generally read by church
members. Formal Religious Education
for children is provided at the same time as the service, except during
the summer. Then we have our Summer Fundays program and even though
it’s not based on a formal UU curriculum, it is based on UU
principles. We welcome people of all races, religions, ages, cultures,
sexual orientations, physical abilities, and economic levels.
We
agree to treat each other with respect and kindness.
We agree to listen patiently to others as they speak.
We agree to speak thoughtfully but briefly.
We agree to give others a chance to speak before we speak again.
We agree to welcome new ideas and insights in our deliberations.
